The Start
The East Athens Development Corporation, (EADC), a 501 (c) (3) Community Based Development Organization, was established in 1993 when funding became available to revitalize Triangle Plaza and the East Athens target area. This commercial rehab project addressed areas of code compliance, façade, signage and public facilities. Triangle Plaza consists of nine business sites.

Since its start with neighborhood revitalization, EADC has grown to include community based micro-enterprise, job development and afffordable housing initiatives. The micro-enterprise development classes teach the skills and knowledge needed to start your own business: business plan development, marketing knowledge and presentation skills. In addition, EADC manages a revolving loan fund for businesses seeking $500 to $6000 for start-up or expansion costs. These services are available for not only the East Athens residents, but also for the residents of surrounding counties.

EADC is a HUD Certified Housing Counseling Agency and a Community Housing Development Organization (CHDO). Housing programs include: Home Buyers Club, housing counseling, housing rehabilitation, owner occupied rehab, down payment assistance, ADA accessibility, and new construction.

Current Projects
In addition to training classes on job skills, starting your own business and owning your own home, EADC is currently involved in some exciting neighborhood revitalization projects. We are restoring on Gospel Pilgrim Cemetery on Fourth Street. Phase 1 of this restoration project, installing new gates and a bench, creating a web site, cleaning up some of the overgrowth, and formulating a long-term management plan, is now complete. See the Gospel Pilgrim Cemetery link for more information.
EADC is committted to providing affordable housing through one single family new construction program and through our rental acquistion and rehabilition progjects.
